Architecture as Social Sculpture

interviewed by Frane Dumandžić

The importance of topics tackled at the Venice Biennale of Architecture has been challenged in the last twenty years, even when it is curated by Rem Koolhaas. Those explored by architects in our national pavilions were mostly focused on recent history, sometimes on the political present, and very rarely on the future. This year, the approach was changed by the Pavilion designed by Bruno Juričić and his collaborators, who responded to the topic set by the curators using the technology that has just started to be employed in our profession. With Bruno Juričić we have discussed the connection of the Pergola and innovative technologies, the narrative accompanying the work and the relation to the architectural scene in Croatia.
